Terra d'Oro Chenin Blanc Viognier 2018

TASTING NOTES

The Terra d’Oro 2018 Chenin Blanc and Viognier blend displays engaging aromas of honeydew melon, cantaloupe, grapefruit, pear and strawberry with hints of nectarines, orange blossom and tangerines. The nose gives way to a clean mid-palate with flavors of peaches and mango complemented by notes of quince and nectarine. Acid drives into a bright, crisp finish. This wine is lively, refreshing and well-balanced. For a delightful pairing, serve this wine with oysters on the half shell or with Asian cuisine.

VINEYARD NOTES

Grapes for the Terra d’Oro 2018 Chenin Blanc and Viognier were hand-picked from select vineyards in northern California. Clarksburg, in particular, is an ideal location for the growth and maturation of white varieties, especially for the two components that make up this blend. Cool breezes from the San Fransisco Bay flow through this region resulting in much cooler temperatures than the surrounding growing regions. This coolness gives us white varieties that can ripen slowly to develop depth in flavors and aromas.

WINEMAKER NOTES

During the winter leading up to the harvest of 2018, we received a lot of precipitation giving us incredibly vigorous and healthy vines to work with. After picking in early September, the grapes were brought into the winery to be processed. This wine was fermented and aged entirely in stainless steel, helping to capture the fresh varietal flavors and bright acidity.
