WEEK SEVEN MENU: May 4-9

The original cowboys were Italian!  Oh yes they were! The Butteri of southern Tuscany have been an intrinsic part of the Maremma region for centuries, riding and roping long-horned cattle on horseback.  Maybe that explains, in part, why Italians have always been intrigued with the American West. The Good, The Bad and The Ugly, recognized as one of the top ten films of all time, was an Italian-made Western, emblematic of the widely popular genre of movies directed by Italian, Sergio Leone, in the 1960s and 70s that were ultimately dubbed "Spaghetti Westerns."  This week's menus is inspired by simple, straight-forward foods that could have been eaten in the marshes of Maremma or on the Plains of the American West.

WEEK SIX MENU: April 27-May 2

The iconic Academy Award winning movie, Roman Holiday, helped to position post-war Italy as a mecca for film, fashion and modern culture.  A story of a nemph-like princess, played by Audrey Hepburn, it recounts her one glorious day on the lam in Rome. But you can't talk of Rome without celebrating its food.  Because it lies in the center of the country, the cuisine of Rome draws from the distinctive cuisines of the north and the south, while still retaining a character of its own. Our menu this week highlights some of Rome's most beloved and popular dishes - dishes that you will find in most every Roman Trattoria today.  Join us for dinner and a movie!

WEEK FIVE MENU: April 20-25

In recognition of Raffaello's place in history and of the 500th Anniversary of his death, Rome has spent years preparing for a monumental retrospective of his works, only to be shuttered days after it opened, due to the Corona virus. This week, I have designed a menu highlighting foods these masters would have enjoyed before the arrival of the new and unfamiliar ingredients discovered in the New World (ie. tomatoes, potatoes, corn, turkey, to name a few.) While dining and sharing in our Travel Notes, you will also have the opportunity to travel to Rome and enjoy a virtual tour and curated presentation of the amazing Raffaello exhibit for a true multi-sensory experience.
